PRESS RELEASE

NEK stocked Rozov Kladenets Dam with over 400 thousand small carp

Fish will contribute to improving biodiversity in the dam

More than 400,000 juvenile carp were released into the Rozov Kladenets dam by NEK employees and representatives of the company donating the stocking material. The carp is a suitable species that is expected to successfully adapt to the reservoir's waters and contribute significantly to improving its biodiversity.

The fish stocking is part of NEK's concern for biodiversity conservation and commitment to local communities.

Rozov Kladenets Dam is located in southeastern Bulgaria near the town of Galabovo. Its main purpose is to provide the necessary water for the normal operation of three thermal power plants through cyclic heat exchange of water. Its construction was carried out in the period 1957-1960. The constant relatively high water temperature makes Rozov Kladenets Dam an attractive habitat for a number of waterfowl - cormorants, pelicans and coots.
