NEK EAD in its capacity as public provider is buying and selling electrical energy in the country at regulated prices determined by the State Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (SEWRC), and at non-regulated prices at the electricity market.

NEK EAD concludes contracts with power producers and traders.

 

SALE OF ELECTRICITY IN THE COUNTRY

Pursuant to the Energy Law NEK EAD concludes power sale agreements with customers directly connected to the transmission network of NEK EAD, final suppliers and the power distribution companies located in the territory of the 13 grid operation areas of the Electricity System Operator EAD.

 

FOREIGN TRADE BUSINESS IN ELECTRICITY

The Balkan countries are a traditional market for the electricity traded by NEK EAD.

Subject to the electric power balance of the Bulgarian electric power system and the availability of technical possibilities NEK EAD seeks to maintain and increase its market presence in the Balkan region. In addition to 1-year contracts, the company started to use monthly and weekly export contracts as a result of which it succeeded in achieving maximum utilization of capacities and reduction in costs for availability payments to local power producers.
